![]() ![]() I know of a few people who had theirs replaced under warranty and it cured their issue. The last thing I have yet to get done is to have the driveshaft rebalanced. Dodge claims there is no issue, but go drive a few and you'll find it. The problem is also common in the 1500 series. Since then I have upgraded the entire suspension system and installed new tires and it is still there. I have had this particular problem on my 2500 since I bought it last year. Vibration/bouncing when driving down the highway. This is common on almost all of the Rams that don't have HID headlights. But it can and has led to transmission failures.ħ. They often won't throw a code and the dealer will tell you nothing is wrong with it. The typical problem is a jerk between shifts and searching for gears. The automatic transmissions have always been a weak point in the Ram. Not all of them have the issue, so it's hit or miss.Ħ. The fix is to have the cam and lifters replaced. The 5.7L is known to have intermittent valve tick. This can cause numerous electrical gremlins, some of which are no start conditions down to power windows not working.ĥ. Faulty TIPM (total integrated power module). This can cause either the blend door to stop moving (wont switch from defrost to cab vents or vice versa), the blower motor to work when the key is out of the ignition.Ĥ. Shorts in the HVAC blower motor assembly. The light will allow water in which will run down a channel inside the cab and soak both corners of the headliner. There is a foam gasket between the third brake light and cab that deteriorates very quickly. This can cause the wire to break which in turn causes the dome light and buzzer not to work when you open the driverside door.Ģ. Wiring in the driverside door is too short. Yes, there are common problem areas that you need to be aware of.ġ. I like the idea of the Rambox, for people who have this option, how useful is it really? Do you miss the "lost" space in the bed? There are very few trucks on the used market with the Rambox option, so being able to talk myself out of focusing on this one feature would open up my options, including to other makes, not just Dodge. I have an older SUV this would be replacing I don't want another SUV, so I'm thinking a recent, but not new, Ram 1500.Īre there any common faults or problem areas with late model Ram which I should watch out for? ![]() Might want to tow a small trailer (<3500lbs).
